Next Version ?

How close are you to releasing the next version of NB?
NB is a great program as it is, but can hardly wait to see the new version.

Hi Dale,
the release date is not fixed yet, but we are at the end of the development and will start a short testing period soon. After this testig, we will release the first beta of Notesbrowser 1.7. We can not release a beta now because we are still improving the new file format.

Got it. It failed to automatically detect that I had paid for the Pro version.

Hi,
I could reproduce this problem.
There is an easy workaround: You just have to click on Configurations -> Register and there press the Okay button to confirm your registration data (it should be imported correctly and will work with the new version).

I will remove this bug soon.

Thank you for reporting!

Thank you. Here's another issue:

On startup I get two error messages successively:

1. Error: end of file not found.

When I dismiss it, I get

2. Load Error-Index for page not found.

Hi, the first issue is solved. I have made a patch for this (see below).

To the second issue:
I have investigated this bug and at this time no idea how this could happen. It happens at the time when Notesbrowser loads a Category file, for example "01-01-Category.nbw" and expects a line at the end of the file which looks: </NotesbrowserCategory>

I think the problem is a file from a previous version that did not got migrated as expected. To check which file is affected, I have included a better error message in the patch file. Please download it and investigate the file which has the error (or provide it to us) so I can judge if I have to change the mirgation routines.

The patch It is available here:
Removed because not necessary anymore

Another question: From which version did you migrate? From NB 1.6? Have you used a version before this, for example 1.5 or earlier?

Thank you,

Dirk

I haven't yet installed the patch, but to answer the above: Yes. I had version 1.5 installed. I migrated from 1.6.

By the way--I don't want to disorganize your board. If you prefer to move this discussion to a different section of the forum, that would be fine with me.

Since I didn't need to retain any old data, I did a clean reinstall. It works fine now, tending to confirm your diagnosis that old file data was responsible.

Okay, thank you.
If any other user who migrates from an earlier version has this problem, please try the patch and contact me then.

The patch is not necessary anymore because we have integrated it in the RC1 Download.
